Palm Sunday Newcastle –  Begins Holy Week, recalling Jesus’ joyful entry into Jerusalem. The crowd shouted “Hosanna!” laying palm leaves before him in praise. This liturgy invites everyone to gather outside in St Nicholas’ Square. We start the service outdoors, symbolising the procession of Christ’s arrival.
Palm crosses are distributed as we remember this sacred moment together. The congregation processes into the Cathedral, singing traditional hymns of joy. Readings and prayers reflect Jesus’ path from glory to the cross.

The Gospel is read dramatically to mark Christ’s passion and love. A solemn yet hopeful tone prepares us for the week ahead. Children and families are especially welcome to join in the procession. This powerful liturgy blends celebration with the shadow of coming sacrifice. Join us at 10:00 am to mark this significant Christian tradition.
