Maundy Thursday Southwell Minster –  Begins the solemn Sacred Triduum journey. This is the first of three powerful services in the Holy Week tradition. We recall the Last Supper joyfully, sharing bread and wine with reverence. A meaningful foot-washing follows, mirroring Christ’s humility with His disciples.

Then, the tone shifts as the altars are stripped in silence. This stark moment invites reflection on the coming sorrow of crucifixion. The service concludes with a Watch in Gethsemane, waiting in stillness. Christ’s agony in the garden is held in solemn, prayerful vigil. Attendees may stay after to continue the Watch until 10:00pm. It is a sacred time of prayer, silence, and deep contemplation.

The entire service will also be live-streamed online from the Minster. At 7:00pm, the stream will appear on the page below. Viewers can participate from home, no login or signup required. This makes it accessible for those unable to attend in person. For added flexibility, the full service recording remains online all week. This allows individuals to revisit or reflect at their own pace.
