Good Friday Rushden – 18/4/2025 11.00am
Good Friday Rushden – The Council of Churches is holding a special Good Friday vigil outside St Mary’s Church on April 18th. This meaningful event begins at 11:00am, inviting people of all backgrounds to come together in quiet reflection. Good Friday marks the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, a solemn day in the Christian calendar around the world.
This vigil provides an opportunity to remember Christ’s sacrifice, love, and the hope offered through his suffering and death. Outside the historic St Mary’s Church, participants will gather in reverence, prayer, and song to honour this sacred day. Clergy from various denominations will lead the service, offering scripture readings, meditations, and moments of silent contemplation. The vigil is open to everyone—young or old, churchgoer or seeker—seeking meaning and community on Good Friday.
Attendees are encouraged
To dress warmly and bring an open heart for this outdoor, peaceful time of worship. Music will be provided by a local ecumenical choir, adding a spiritual dimension through timeless hymns and chants. The event seeks to unite the community in shared faith, compassion, and hope amid today’s often divided world. For many, this vigil is a cherished tradition that connects generations through collective memory and sacred observance.
You need not be a church member to attend; the invitation is extended to anyone who wishes to come. Following the vigil, light refreshments will be offered nearby, fostering fellowship among those who gather to remember. Come stand in stillness, reflect on Christ’s passion, and feel renewed by faith in the heart of community.
